故事内容：

炎热的夏天里，一只狐狸在果园漫步（Onehotsummer'sdayaFoxwasstrollingthroughanorchard），看到一串熟透的葡萄沿著藤蔓高挂在上（tillhecametoabunchofGrapesjustripeningonavinewhichhadbeentrainedoveraloftybranch.）。「解渴就靠这个了。」他这麼说著（Justthethingtoquenchmythirst,quothhe）。退了几步之后，他往前又跑又跳的（Drawingbackafewpaces,hetookarunandajump），可惜没构到那串葡萄（andjustmissedthebunch），往后再退了几步，一、二、三，往上一跳（TurningroundagainwithaOne,Two,Three,hejumpedup），还是没有构到那串葡萄（butwithnogreatersuccess.）。他试了又试只希望吃口诱人的葡萄（Againandagainhetriedafterthetemptingmorsel），可最后还是放弃了（butatlasthadtogiveitup），最后离开，鼻子嗅了嗅说（andwalkedawaywithhisnoseintheair,saying）：「葡萄太酸了（Iamsuretheyaresour.）。」
