课程性质和学习目的：　　《英语国家概况》English-SpeakingCountries:ASurvey是高等教育自学考试英语专业基础科段（专科）的一门必考课。

　　设置本课程的目的是为了使英语专业专科学生了解主要英语国家的地理，历史，经济和政治等方面的概况；了解主要英语国家的文化传统，风俗习惯和社会生活的其他有关情况。
